A Dash to the Finish Line
I’m writing this post quickly at the end of a long day, as I’ve arrived in Singapore and immediately remembered what a bustling city felt like.
I settled in my studio, took a 15-minute power nap, and then set off into the city to reconnect with an old friend I hadn’t seen since my Erasmus exchange in Paris over 7 years ago. On my way, I took the scenic road through downtown and gazed upon the towering Marina Bay Sands.
My Korean friend took my to LeVeL33 (that’s not a typo), a semi-rooftop bar with the kind of spectacular view I’ve grown to associate with large Asian metropolises by now:
We filled in the blanks in our lives with all the stuff that old friends talk about: where we work, where we’ve traveled, whom we’ve fallen in love with, whom we’ve drifted apart from, and so on.
After this bout of nostalgia, she took me to Lau Pa Sat Food Court, an open-air food court in the middle of the concrete jungle, between skyscrapers, where I promptly gained 2 kg in 2 hours. This place is fantastic: it’s the first place I’ve been to where waiters from different restaurants simultaneously serve you.
The evening concluded quite gracefully as we said our goodbyes to each other, and as I proceeded to walk off all those calories home.
